Mike Kastrop is extremely personable and competent. I cannot praise his company highly enough and I feel very blessed that we were guided to the Kastrop Group to do the architectural work for our remodel and bring it to an excellent conclusion. Mike coordinated and supervised weekly meetings with the engineers, contractors, landscape designer, designer for the tenant, the tenant and landlord to help keep the momentum of the project moving forward. Mike helped expedite the process of getting necessary permits, because of his long-term relationship with people at the Redwood City Building Department. Mike also made regular site visits to make sure everything was built according to the specifications.

We love this firm. We worked primarily with Brian and he was stellar. In particular, he was able to create the best possible design in a collaborative effort. Brian listened keenly to what we wanted in our plans and then even offered ideas (not pushy at all) that were even better than what we had envisioned. He had explained the design process to often be a combination of the homeowner and the designer/architect, and that's exactly what it was. Brian even made it enjoyable versus stressful.

I would recommend a LOCAL architect. They know the city and know the local laws. I went with one of the "my friend does this job" routes, and although he was amazing, he did not do a fraction of what the city required. I had to go back with a different architect (local) and got it done right. I went with Brian at the Kastrop Group. They know everyone at the city. I went there with Brian, and was impressed at how everyone knew him by name. His price is fair, and he has a ton of connections with people in other fields. Tell him Dimitri sent you.

I'd like to thank you for your architectural efforts in the historical restoration of our 125-year-old church. The seismic improvements were done in the least disruptive way possible and the cosmetic improvements were much appreciated by all. It is truly impressive that the church was able to remain open 24-hours daily during the entire process. The custom designs of the paving, handrails, and details were in keeping with the beauty of the church as well as its style.

This is an amazing company. I want to call out Brian specifically. Brian was an absolute professional and a joy to work with. He knew exactly what we were looking for (even though we were not sure). We hit some bumps in our construction and permitting process but he was extremely responsive and worked with us through the issues that we encountered. I would recommend Kastrop Group and Brian with no hesitation. We are extremely happy with the results.

We engaged a series of architects to give us ideas on what was the best choice, but found that each architect was driven more by his vision than our needs. After 4 failed attempts to find the right architect we came to Mike Kastrop, whom I happen to know through my sailing hobby. Mike was very approachable, listened to what we wanted, and delivered for us. At the end of the day we added a clerestory to accommodate a new staircase to the master bedroom suite, completely redid the master bath, created closets and a dressing area, reconfigured the multiple small rooms into a fabulous great room and opened up the entire back of the house with a wall of windows. The results are spectacular. Mike is an upbeat, problem solver. He listens carefully and then delivers.

The Kastrop Group helped our facility with our Fire Clearance and created the best looking Evacuation Plan for our residents and staff. The architects worked well with our staff and our facility's residents while working on the details of the evacuation plan. The lead architect walked the plan into the Building Department with our administrative staff and then the Fire Department, and followed up every step including minor changes to obtain our updated Fire Clearance. I couldn't be more pleased with their professionalism, detail to work specs, and the dedication visible in the end product. I highly recommend The Kastrop Group.
