Community involvement

"Giving back" is one of our guiding principles. Both Mike and Lorianna Kastrop serve in volunteer civic positions, not occasionally, but always. Mike has donated countless hours to the improvement of downtown Redwood City and has been on the Board of the Downtown Business Group for many years, serving multiple terms as President. In 2016 he was named "Mr. Redwood City" at a scholarship fundraiser for the Miss Redwood City / Miss San Mateo County pageant foundation.

Lorianna has held a wide variety of volunteer public positions since 1991, including appointments to the Redwood City Housing and Human Concerns Committee and the Redwood City Port Commission. She served in elected office on the Redwood City School District Board of Trustees and on non-profit boards including Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club, Sequoia YMCA, and Stanford Professional Women. She applied for and received 501(c)3 non-profit foundation status for the Sequoia Boosters Club, which raises money for high school athletic uniforms, equipment and travel. She helped fund communication and medical-supply boats for isolated people in the Amazon river region of Ecuador, providing emergency medical access for over 2,000 people. She co-founded the Redwood City Hometown Holidays Festival and founded Redwood City PortFest.
